The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland proclaimed June 1 as International Children's Day in 1925. Since then many countries, including Armenia, celebrate that day annually. The celebrations include events and speeches about childrenís rights, different programs and performances.

On this day most of the parents and grandparents take their children and grandchildren out to participate in celebrations in Yerevan. This year wasnít an exception. On June 1, 2011, the streets, parks, playgrounds and childrenís cafes were full of children of different ages.

Though there are lots of events and lots of places to go on this day in Yerevan, however the traditional "Chalk Painting" at Freedom Square remains one of the most popular activities among children. The Chalk Painting was accompanied by a concert with children performers only.

Armine Pilosyan's lens captured scenes from the concert at the Freedom Square and the Chalk Painting activity.
