UAE Armenians: Job related issues
Posted: Friday, May 25, 2007
It is said that economic progress is the base of social and community welfare. This is even more important in the Middle East, where individual Armenians need to care about their and their families' needs, without hoping much from the existing governments, as there are no welfare benefits for the unemployed.
By discussing different job prospects, conditions, needs etc., and by posting job offerings, requests, announcements, etc., we aspire to provide a sort of soft landing for newcomers.
- Add your email or other contact details in the message box in order to receive feedback from the readers.
- Readers can send their answers directly to the person who did the posting (if there is an email address for correspondence). It is also recommended (for the benefit of all the readers) to post your answers in the forum.

We have been receiving many messages asking advice on the availability of work positions. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to find job for the prospective applicants.

However we can offer the following:

1) Information about the job market.

2) Forum page to discuss job opportunities.

3) Service to post job requests, offers and business leads:

Job seekers: Post your job request with your qualifications here. You can also add your CV or other details as a link.

Job offers: Check the job description and other particulars with the announcing companies or individuals.

Business leads: Information that can help enlarge your business or locate new collaborators, etc.

Before the international crisis, UAE offered a lot of opportunities for job seekers. Recruitment was prior concern for many companies.

People usually come to Dubai through recruitment companies in their home countries. There are some who arrive here with their partners or spouses and others who come first in holiday or when visiting friends and then start looking for job.

If you find job through recruitment companies in your country (before coming UAE), the company will be paying for your airline ticket, relocation costs and official documentation related to your residency.

If you are certain about the specific industry field where you want to work, it is worth to contact companies in that domain, by sending your CV directly to them. Many such companies have vacancy listings in their own company websites.

It is usually easy to find job once you are in the UAE. Dubai based English speaking local newspapers Gulf News (www.gulfnews.com) and Khaleej Times (www.khaleejtimes.com) have dedicated classified job listings and appointment supplements. They can be extremely useful in arranging your job seeking schedule and starting the networking process.

The majority of the recruitment companies will accept your CV by email. Registering with them will require to fill a form. Recruitment companies charge the job offering companies for this service as it is not allowed to charge the fee to the applicant.

Dear Armenian Compatriots:
I would be much grateful if you could consider my letter. I am now looking for a job in the field of cardiovascular medicine/internal medicine/general medicine in UAE and other Gulf countries.
I graduated from Yerevan State Medical University in 1997 and entered clinical residency in cardiology at the same Univ. Upon successful accomplishment of post-graduate specialization in clinical cardiology which also included general internal medicine, cardiovascular issues of rheumatology and endocrinology, I continued professional specialization as a research fellow in cardiology (2000-2003), successfully defended thesis and was awarded a scientific degree of candidate of medical science (2002).
Working alongside with a number of distiguished Armenian internologists from Yerevan State Medical University (1992-2008), I advanced my skills in clinical medicine, particularly in vascular hematology, cardiovascular medicine, rheumatology, gastroenterology, nephrology. Furthermore, I've developed numerous original clinical lectures in internal medicine which were published by Yerevan State Medical University publishing house in 2002, 2004 and 2008.
In 2004-2006, I was serving as a clinical cardiologist and rheumatologist at the Central Clinical Military Hospital. During this period, alongside with clinical responsibilities and responsibilities as a lieutenant of medical service, I was in a position to deliver clinical lectures and to be involved in training of medical students.
Over the past few years, my main academic and scientific interests were related to the role of inflammation in cardiovascular pathology. Thanks to that, I greatly improved my skills as a researcher, expanded network of colleagues working on the scientific issues of mutual interests. My professional background and activities as a clinician, trainer, researcher, medical writer, reviewer and editor of several international medical journals (in USA, Western and Eastern Europe, Middle East; e.g. J Human Hypertension, Thrombosis Research, Thrombosis and Hemostasis, J Cardiovascular Medicine, Southern Medical J, Central European Medical Journal, Archives of Medical Science etc.) were highly evaluated which yielded in membership in European Association of International Education (2007) and World Association of Medical Editors (2008).
With the gained academic, clinical and research potential and great professional interest in medicine, I would love to continue my work in Gulf countries as an Armenian expert in clinical medicine/cardiovascular medicine.
I am fluent in Armenian, Russian and English.
